1. Who you're buying from
The TakeBack Group Ltd (“The Takeback”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 17286960. Our registered office and postal address is 28a Church Lane, Stockport, SK6 6DE. Email us at hello@thetakeback.co.uk — it's the quickest way to reach us.
These terms are for people buying as consumers, for personal use.
2. What we sell
Renewed (refurbished) Google Pixel phones, set up by us with GrapheneOS and ready to use:
- Google Pixel 8a (Take Back), 8GB RAM, 128GB, condition: Grade A renewed. £339 including delivery. Google's security updates for this model are guaranteed until at least May 2031.
- Google Pixel 9 (Take Back Plus), 12GB RAM, 128GB, condition: Grade A renewed. £439 including delivery. Google's security updates for this model are guaranteed until at least Aug 2031.
Renewed means the phone has been used before. We check each one before we set it up: it works properly, it can be unlocked for GrapheneOS, it isn't reported lost or stolen, and the battery is in good health. It may show light signs of use.
GrapheneOS is free, open-source software made by the GrapheneOS project. We're not connected to them. Installing it voids Google's manufacturer warranty on the phone, which is why we give you our own warranty instead (section 9). Some apps that depend on Google may not work, or may need Google Play installed in a sandbox; we'll always tell you the trade-offs before you buy.
3. Prices and paying
The price shown is the total you pay, including delivery. We're not VAT-registered, so there's no VAT to add. You pay by card when you place your order; payments are handled securely by Stripe and we never see your full card number.
4. How your order works
When you pay, you're placing an order with us. The contract between us starts when we email you our order confirmation, which we normally send straight away. In the rare case we can't get hold of a phone that meets our standards, we'll tell you and refund you in full straight away.
5. Delivery
- We deliver to addresses in the United Kingdom, free, by Royal Mail Special Delivery — tracked, insured and signed for.
- Each phone is set up to order, so we dispatch it within 5 working days of your order confirmation. We'll email you the tracking number when it's on its way.
- The phone is our responsibility until it's delivered to you (or to someone you've asked to take it in). If it's lost or damaged in the post, that's our problem, not yours.
6. Changing your mind: your 14-day right to cancel
You can cancel for any reason, without giving one, within 14 days of the day you receive the phone. To cancel, just tell us clearly — an email to hello@thetakeback.co.uk is fine. You can use the model form below if you like, but you don't have to. As long as you tell us before the 14 days are up, you're in time.
After you've cancelled:
- Send the phone back to us within 14 days of cancelling. When you tell us you're cancelling, we'll email you the returns address and instructions. (Please don't post phones to our registered office — it can't accept parcels.)
- You pay the cost of posting it back if you've simply changed your mind. We'd suggest a tracked, insured service. (If the phone is faulty, we pay — see section 8.)
- We refund everything you paid, including delivery, within 14 days of receiving the phone back — or, if sooner, of you showing us evidence you've sent it. We refund to the card you paid with, and we never charge a fee for refunding.
- You can try the phone out as you would in a shop. If it comes back damaged, or its value has dropped because it was handled beyond what's needed to see how it works, we may deduct that loss in value from your refund.
- Please sign out of any accounts and back up anything you want to keep before you send it; we'll wipe the phone when it comes back.

7. The £89 “send us your phone” set-up
If you already own a suitable Pixel, we can set it up for you. This is arranged by email rather than through the website checkout, and we'll confirm the details in writing first. Please know before you post it:
- Installing GrapheneOS wipes the phone completely. Back up everything you want to keep before you send it.
- You have 14 days from agreeing the service to cancel. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point; once we've finished the job at your request, you can no longer cancel it.
8. If something's wrong: your legal rights
We have a legal duty to supply a phone that matches its description, is of satisfactory quality (allowing for it being renewed) and is fit for purpose. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if it isn't:
- Within 30 days of delivery you can reject it and get a full refund.
- After that, you can ask us to repair or replace it, at no cost to you — we cover the postage both ways.
- If a repair or replacement doesn't fix it, or isn't possible, you can have a price reduction or a refund.
- If a fault shows up within 6 months of delivery, it's assumed to have been there when you got it, unless we can show otherwise — and within those 6 months we can't reduce a refund for the use you've had.
This is only a summary. For independent advice, contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline.
9. Our 12-month warranty
On top of your legal rights, we give our own warranty. It doesn't replace or reduce your statutory rights in any way.
- Who gives it: The TakeBack Group Ltd, 28a Church Lane, Stockport, SK6 6DE.
- How long: 12 months from the day the phone is delivered to you, for phones bought from us and used in the UK.
- What it covers: faults that develop in normal use — the phone, its screen, buttons, cameras, charging and battery failing to work as they should. We'll repair it, replace it with an equivalent phone, or refund you, and we pay the postage.
- What it doesn't cover: accidental damage (such as drops or a cracked screen), liquid damage, loss or theft, ordinary cosmetic wear, a battery's normal gradual loss of capacity, and faults caused by repairs or changes made by someone other than us — including changes to the phone's software or bootloader that cause the problem.
- How to claim: email hello@thetakeback.co.uk with your order number and what's wrong. We'll reply with next steps and a prepaid way to send it to us.
10. Complaints
If you're not happy, email hello@thetakeback.co.uk. We'll reply within 5 working days and do our best to put it right.
11. Your data
We use your details only to supply and support your order. See our privacy policy.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you keep the consumer protections of where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
The terms for using the rest of this website, and the honest limits of what de-Googling does, are on our website terms page.
